Electron Beam Ion Source
Parameters:
Magnetic field strength: 400 mT (on axis)
Trap length: 60 mm
Electron energy: up to 20 keV
Electron beam current: up to 200 mA
The magnetic field which is required for the compression of the electron beam is generated by two NdFeB permanent ring magnets. These will be installed outside the vacuum chamber in order to enable the baking of the system.
The ring magnet which will be installed at the side of the extraction system consists of two half-rings which allows their installation after connecting to a beam line.
dimensions
The ion source has a CF100 flange for connecting a diagnostics box with 4 CF40 flanges (gas injection valves, vacuum gauges) and the pump, as well as a CF40 flange next to the trap center for ion spectroscopy (Be-window), and an additional free CF40 flange.
Outside the electron collector there are two water connectors for a cooling water circuit (2 bar).
The connection to a beam line is enabled via a CF40 flange at the end of the extraction system.
